One feature that may tip some towards De La Paz is its use of bicycle delivery for its beans. Certainly that would be appealing to Mojo which has more square footage dedicated to bicycles than coffee, and the folks at Mercury also appreciate bicycles. I wonder how many other De La Paz accounts are also tied to bike culture cafe owners?

Thanks for the heads-up. That would certainly explain the Ecco exodus. It just doesn't directly account for the De La Paz switches.

You might notice that the Ecco/De La Paz transfer coincided with the exit of Ecco's master roaster, Steve Ford, who is now with Ritual. Subsequently, many of Ecco's wholesale accounts followed Steve to Ritual, though some broke off entirely. It is rumored that after a taste/cost comparison, a few clients, such as Mojo, chose to offer a split service with De La Paz filling in the gaps, but I remain skeptical on that.
