Thanks for the riposte, Mike. It's all about personal preferences, of course. No one is more "right" than anyone else.

So we toss forth the case/explanation for our own favoritism. The glassware-du-mois-as-an-espresso-beverage doesn't work for us based on the thermal properties, for one. But that's minor in comparison to the overall tactile aesthetics: by the hand and by the mouth. (Any resemblance to a lead-up for some double entendre is unintentional. And yes, today is faux French day.)

It's a little to what we touched on here:

Even if some clearly prefer that thin-lipped glassware thing...

While I thoroughly enjoy reading about your distaste for alternative serving ware (and most of the rest of your posts as well) I do have to respectfully disagree with you on this. While I am more so a fan of thin lipped glassware for enjoying coffee out of I can see it even being suitable for espresso drinks. If temperature is your argument then there are a few rebuttals. For one, this is a 5 oz drinks yes? Not really something intended to be nursed for half an hour or even until it has a chance to dip to cool. Pardon the expression but it is more of a tall "shooter" than anything. For two, whats wrong with a drink having a temperature arc? I know the effect is more dramatic with black coffee but as a drink cools it's flavors changing and opening up is something I love.
