Four Barrel is clearly a great place. Reputation counts for a lot, but we don't give out rave reviews that haven't been earned yet.

The good sign is that, offline, Jeremy has been in touch with us personally about this very issue and was really concerned about what we thought. It's always a great sign when the owner cares enough what people think that he's always trying to better his place. So it definitely deserves more revisits.

As for Coffee Bar, every time we've had shots there, Luigi was preparing them. That could certainly skew results... And is a reason to revisit for the opposite reasons.

Haven't been back to your site for a while, but I'll have to be more discriminating next visit I take to four barrel. I do agree though, I hadn't noticed its absence after the roast changeover, but there was a very bright and lemon/orange rind character to the old hairbender shots.

Next I'll have to check out coffee bar again, couldn't understand how you gave them such a high rank after the last time I was there and had a barista level his shot with the lid of the hopper.
